1 Corinthians 1-3
After you’ve finished your reading, take out your journal and write the date at the top. Also, write out “1 Corinthians 1-3” as your heading so that you can easily look back and refer to this reading whenever you need to.
What spoke to you?
Write down a verse, or passage, that stood out to you in the reading.
Write down a few thoughts that came to mind about the passage you selected. Why did you select it? How did it speak to you? This doesn’t have to be a formal essay. Just jot down a sentence, or some words that will later remind you why this passage spoke to you.
Let’s share . . . I’ll Go First!
I picked out 1 Corinthians 2:9.
“However, as it is written:
“What no eye has seen,
what no ear has heard,
and what no human mind has conceived”[a]—
the things God has prepared for those who love him—”
Can you imagine this? That in your wildest imagination, no eye has even seen this, your ears have never heard, and your mind cannot even fathom all the great things the Lord has prepared for you! That’s amazing! I love Him and He already has the unimaginable prepared for me! And I’m assured that I get to experience this. When I die and go to Heaven, it’s going to be beyond what I can even imagine…and I can imagine some pretty great things! And guess what? We don’t even have to wait until we get to Heaven. Many of the gifts we will receive we can begin to experience here on earth. He gives us people who love us. The beauty of nature! His love! Sometimes we can start to focus on the things that aren’t lovely in life, because we do see the side effects of sin, but there are glimpses of these wonderful things in store for us! Oh, how much He loves us!
Take a moment to reflect on the verse. Think about that verse and how it relates to your life right now. His Bible is the living word so it’s always applicable.
Close in Prayer
This is your personal time with God to respond to the Word. Write this down in your journal. This will be a great testimony to the power of prayer as well as a resource for when you want to look back at how reading the Bible daily can change your life!
